Open Letter (2020)
This project is a local cultural initiative centered around the theme of the city. Over nearly a year, it began by meeting and conversing with the city’s residents and observing their behaviors. Within familiar yet uniquely functioning everyday spaces, how do we interact, and what stories do we exchange? Histories gathered through interviews reveal each individual’s influence and legacy, recorded and exhibited through bodily performance.
Two performers move only within a defined patch of grass, a space that contrasts with the concrete and high-rises surrounding us. This grass represents a different sensory space and a place we are meant to occupy in this era. The project features four musical tracks, allowing the audience to choose and connect to one via their own headphones, creating a personal bubble detached from external sounds. Each person experiences something unique, reflecting on their daily lives while sharing a collective view. Each performer is like a living structure within the city, a mediator linking the people of the city to one another.
